Why do we get lunar and solar eclipses?
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes behind the earth into its shadow. The earth, sun and the moon are either closely or perfectly aligned, with the earth in the middle.The earth’s shadow blocks sunlight from reflecting off the moon, resulting in an eclipse.
A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes in between the earth and the sun.
Amazing fact: Between two and five solar eclipses occur every year, with at least one eclipse per season.
