The Mayor Campaigning For Compassion | TED + GBS Present Torchbearers

Compassion is more than just a feeling, it’s a daily practice, a muscle to be continually exercised. No one understands that more than TED Prize winner Karen Armstrong. She’s spent her life studying the intricacies of religion and has written more than 20 books on faith. Now, she’s on a mission to create communities built on compassion. With the global Charter for Compassion, Armstrong has inspired over 2 million people and 300 cities to commit to a daily act of kindness, including Mayor Fischer of Louisville, Kentucky. After campaigning on the idea of compassion, Fischer stirred his city into action. Today, the city of Louisville has incorporated compassionate teachings into their everyday lives, starting with their elementary schools.
